Electric Model Systems Servo Lead & Terminal Crimping Tool
With your purchase, receive at no cost:
This is the EMS Terminal Crimping Tool. This tool is used to secure connector pins to input signal wires of an ESC, receiver battery or servo, and is the tool you need to make custom length servo extensions, or when modifying the length of a receiver input signal harness. Simply strip a short length of the shielding off the wires, install the connector pin into the tool, insert the wire into the pin, and squeeze the tool to crimp the pin in place. Crimps 20, 24 and 28 AWG wire.

These are very good crimpers. They work perfect. Out of around 100 connectors I have only wrecked 3 and they were all my fault not the crimpers. My only gripe with these is the fact that they always stay open, as there is a spring that forces them open. Nice feature when they are in hand. There is no latch to hold them closed. I just use a zap strap and slide it over the handle to keep them closed but its kind of silly that they don't have something built in. Other then that there is nothing to complain about. You do need to do a double crimp for each connector but i like it that way. First crimp folds the terminal over and lock the wire, the second crimp wraps the two tabs around the wire. Works very well. I have used these for crimping 22-26 awg and regular servo terminals. I have also used for crimping butt slice connectors and they work great for those as well. Cutters are sharp, overall a quality built tool. No ratcheting mechanism, no gimmicks to break. Buy once buy it for life. I would have given 4½ stars but they don't let you.
I've tried several cheap ratchet tools and they don't make crimps nearly as strong as this tool does, the crimps from this thing are actually stronger than many cheap premade extensions. you could probably get better crimps from an expensive specialty ratchet tool costing several hundred dollars made specifically for crimping this exact pin but as far as cheap tools goes don't waste your money on cheap ratchet tools either get this or the GC Electronics #12-464 "D-Sub/Double-D Service Tool (The GC tool can make stronger crimps but is also harder to use and requires two crimps per connector) Use the front set of teeth to crimp servo leads, it will bend the pin slightly just grab the pin by the conductor crimp with needle nose pliars and gently straighten it with your fingers. using this will take some practice I had to go through about 50 pins before I got good with it. Not the absolute best solution but the best reasonably priced one.
