I've been punishing this thing for two years now, first on my AX10 and now, for about a year, on my XR10. I have punished this servo frequently and for a long while now and it has shown zero signs of decline. I'm so impressed with the combo of torque, speed, price, durability, and low battery drain, that I won't be getting one of Hitec's newer, higher torque servos to replace it. I'll go right back to the 7954-SH. As mentioned by another reviewer, definitely make sure you get the endpoints adjusted so you're not locking it up again shocks, chassis, etc. I've always double-checked my end point adjustment before running it and I couldn't ask for more from a product. With the EPA correct, you're not going to wear this servo out until well after you know you got your money's worth from it.
A year now in my axial Ridgecrest with 2.2 tires with 3oz weight in the rims. Castle 10amp bec set to 6v and it works great for rock crawling. Will shove the truck before stalling. Turns wheels in thick grass with ease. Aluminum servo horn included works great. 40 hours on it and zero slop, great buy.
Had this in my 8ight B for 2 years and now in my 8ight T. Never had a problem. Overpowered for both vehicles. As with all high torque servos, set end-points first! Any servo will blow when not set properly. This one is my favorite standard size servo.
This was the first upgrade I did to my night crawler and well worth it. I replaced it with a Hitec 7950 just because I wanted a few more ounces of torque but I never had a problem with it. I know run one in my Honcho and another in my dingo and their great. For the price I don't think you could find a better servo.
I have run a number of different Hitec servos in all kinds of applications and have yet to have on fail. I run two of these in my 8ight T 2.0 and they are awsome. Don't take any notice of people having problems with motors frying. This in 99% of all cases is due to bad EPA adjustment and the servos working against a lock. As these servos are ultra powerful and will pull a huge current when locked the motor will overheat. Always take extra care when setting up your radio before using these and they will perform great.
Ive had this servo (hs-79544sh) for 6 months now in my losi 8ight-t. Im an avaid basher, I run my cars hard! This servo has takin everything in thrown at it, and hasnt mised a lick, with 300+oz of tq this will turn my turggy wheels lock to lock in tall grass. you wont be disapointed with this one...
I don't know why these haven't had a review yet but I have been running these in my MBX6T for the past few months, one on the steering and one on the throttle/brake. They are fast and very powerful. Hitec makes a great product and as long as your EPA's are set properly, I am assuming, they will last quite some time. I run all weekend long on a 2300mAh and only have to put 1200mAh back into the battery. I run it with this voltage indicator ( http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/153396/n/Muchmore-Racing-LiPo-Battery-Voltage-Indicator ) to ensure that I am not running down the battery too far. I love them and would recommend them to anyone. Best of luck to all racing.
I have purchased two of these servos for my buggy, Both in a short time Life pack (6.6volts) got them back from Hitec , re-installed in buggy to brake in a new motor and after 15 mins same thing happened to it. Hitec keeps replacing a Gear. Done with Hitec.
Sent it back to hitec said it had a bad motor. replaced it. Ran it for 2 races and it fried again. Sent it back and replaced motor again, just put it in today. See how long it lasts this time......
I started out in 1/8 buggy RC using Hitec servos only to have multiple failers, i then switched to Futaba and Ace for the following 3 yrs and have had no problems except for general wear and tear, as soon as the Hitec 7.4 volt servs came out i decided to give them a go for obvioius resons but low and behold 2 months later my HITEC throttle servo started smoking up, this stuffed the race i was winning and almost stuffed the rest of my electrical gear. No more Hitec for me, and if you value your hard earned cash i would sieriously consider another servo manufactuer.
