This is the Hot Bodies D8T 1/8 Off Road Competition Truggy Kit. Building on the tremendous success and the strong foundation of the D8, we created the D8T! If winning races is why you race, then this is the truggy for you. Designed with optimal weight distribution and a low center of gravity in mind we have put together a super stable and easy to drive truck that will get you to the winners circle without breaking your piggy bank. Start throwing down some consistently fast lap times with a D8T of your own!

The D8T starts with a brand new extended chassis machined from solid 4mm thick 7075 aluminum, with 10 degrees of front kick-up. The chassis plate has angled sides for extreme stiffness front-to-rear, giving you a solid platform for race tuning. The longer chassis allowed HB lead off-road designer Josh Alton to move the engine nearly to the centre of the chassis, with the weight of the battery pack up front between the servos. Stand-up servo mounting points allow the weight of modern metal-gear servos to sit as close to the middle and front of the car as possible. With the receiver sealed away at the rear, the weight-forward design lets the D8T have better chassis balance than other truggy designs.

Strong composite chassis braces provide stiff bracing with minimal weight, while the chassis is machined for lightness under the servos and engine. The one-piece radio tray from the D8 is used in the D8T for easy clean-up and maintenance.

16mm Big Bore shocks with threaded shock bodies are used to keep the tires on the ground and you in control. These are connected to extra-long solid suspension arms to let you go right over bumps and ruts in the racing surface with the same already-legendary stability of the the World Champion D8 buggy!

The D8T uses extra heavy-duty spiral-cut 'worm gear' diffs to get the power from the driveshafts to the wheels. Six steel universal dogbones are used for the centre driveshafts and at each corner to get the power from the middle diff to front and rear diffs, and also from the diffs to the wheels. The dual fibre disc brakes can be adjusted separately front and rear using the unique linkage that brings the adjustment linkage of both brakes above the middle block deck.

The 150cc fuel tank is large enough to keep you running longer than the rest, so you don't have to stop for fuel as often. With a handy 'clunk' inside, the engine will continue running even when you're on your lid! A complete set of rubber-sealed ball bearings keeps everything spinning smoothly through the nastiest muck. 17mm hex adapters are used to allow any truggy wheels to fit, and new HB tall truggy wheels are included in the kit.

  • Forget about pesky E-clips, the suspension system on the D8T was designed using button head screws to secure all hingepins for the ultimate in ease of maintenance and reliability.
  • The new slammed look of the filter not only looks pro, but provides a larger surface area for your engine to breath through.
  • The one piece design allows you to set the gear mesh once and not worry about adjustments during maintenance.
  • The one piece tray allows for easy maintenance as it can be removed in one section when you need to clean the dirt off your ride.
  • Utilizing 1/5th scale technology the D8T implements a new clunk design which will use every drop of fuel whether you're racing to the line, or upside down waiting for a marshal.
  • The staunch 4mm 7075 Aluminum chassis is designed to withstand any barrage of obstacles on today's mammoth outdoor tracks.
  • The Super-sized shock package is the largest in its class allowing the D8T to recover from the roughest of landings.
  • Grab a larger piece of turf with the D8T's Maxed out wheel dimensions.
  • The largest wheels allowed under ROAR rules, these puppies will put more of your tread on the ground so you can put more of your rivals behind you.
  • Optimized Suspension Geometry to attack the rigors of the new age 1/8th scale tracks.
  • Centralized Weight Distribution provides superb balance with increased transitional agility.

This is an AWESOME Truggy! I bought this kit and also bought the Tekno electric conversion kit at the same time. It went together good and rips with the castle 2200kv motor. I looked at other brands in the 1/8 truggy and this is the most product for the money. I am sure I would be happy with the other too, but I'd be out an extra $200! Can't go wrong with this one!

This truggy is awesome, truly incredible performer. Im running an OS V-Spec in mine! At the track people constantly compliment me on how nimble and fast I am with it, it really is a great handling truck. Its agile yet controllable and very fast especially through the bumps. At my track most people I pass is through the rough where I can just open up the throttle and they have to go very easy. Another strong point is the trucks durability, no issues there. got about 2 gallons of fuel through mine and have had no problems whatsoever. I love this thing!

This truggy is a boss, i got the electric conversion from rc monster and now running a tekin rx8 with tekin 2050kv motor and it it tears. Only broken the little plastic connecting loop on the end of the shock but it just threads off...simple fix and that was from going about 50 into a pallet of bricks. BEST Truggy

I am new to 1/8 truggy and have raced this for the first time recently. I put in the Tessman setup and it's so easy to drive! I put it together myself and everything went smoothly - All of the kit parts were bagged in order of operation with nothing missing. For the lowest truggy price out there, it even included wheels. I've had a couple of gnarly crashes that had me rolling pretty hard, and the only thing that's broke so far was the small plastic piece that holds the wing to the wing mount. To sum it up, all I can say is why pay more to be equally competitive?

Whats there to not like? Everything i saw in the build was quality stuff. Instructions are easy to follow. Match a parts bag to the step in the book. Good photos and reference. I dont have much to say about the track yet as i have yet to bring it. I have run it in the yard and WOW, this thing is going to be easy to drive. Handles like a champ and soaks up bumps very well. The shocks and suspension are really nothing shy of amazing, esp for a "budget" kit. Running mine with werks b5/2057 w/spacer, savox 1256tg/1258tg str/thr and she looks like a competitor right from the go. I can see where this truggy claims to be solid. Will update on how it does at the track once i have a chance to run it. I really cant see it disappointing ;)

This is a phenomenal truggy kit! Do not let the price deter you. The saying " you get what you pay for" does not apply here! This is the first truggy kit I have built; others were bought used. The quality is great. I was really imptessed with the build. Take your time and enjoy it. Instructuon booklet is detailed and well printed. Plenty of shock & diff oil provided. Do not worry about the steering slop as it is suppose to be there. I have a Hitec 7954 HV for steering and the response is awesome. I recommend HB tires as the wheels are the older U channel. Personally Pro line VTR wheels and Blockade tires are a great combo for the D8T!

I have a computer/hobby shop in East Texas. I had this truggy come in FULLY upgraded, all aluminum and carbon fiber. I didn't know what I had. It had a Lamberto Collari .32 and I sold it to a guy new to the hobby. Four months later, I realized I wished I would have kept it. Decided to go through my invoices, find his number and call him to see if he would be interested in selling it back to me. UREKA! He not only still had it, but actually had tried to crank it that day and couldn't, so he was willing to sell it back to me. I drove that evening to pick it up, converted it to brushless, AND COULD NOT BE MORE HAPPY! My favorite RC so far, and I've been fortunate to have several upgraded to the max. This truggy rocks!

Just received mine and so far the build is going great. Quality materials included which I wasn't expecting considering this is half the price of other truggy kits. A few things you should beware of is the slop in the wheels, I'd suggest shimming all the areas where slop is noticeable. Overall seems like a very strong truggy and ive built many kits including serpent, tekno, associated, losi, Durango, ofna etc. Can't wait till the "tessmann" d8t comes out in a few months I'll be all over it.

It's a nice truggy---WELL worth the price. A good starter-kit for someone who wants to get into racing--or you can bash it. Front suspension blocks are a weak point. There are a few mods or aftermarket parts you can get to capture the hinge pins...else you'll pop an arm at the worst possible time. Build was easy.

I haven't been in this hobby a long time, but I do know that when you can say you haven't broke ANYTHING on a kit in over 1 1/2 years... ITS A GOOD KIT! I have this kit converted to electric with the Tekno chassis and it is a TANK! I have crashed, tumbled, mashed, dropped, rammed, and jumped (very big air at a monster truck show)... and have yet to break ANYTHING! No stripped screws, bent parts, ANYTHING. Then add to the fact you can get this kit for so cheap and it makes it even that much better. You also wont find a truck that takes the jumps better than this kit, and it corners amazingly!

Great truggy.......losi, associated, durango, kyosho are all have great truggies but you can't beat the quality & price of the d8t & to put the icing on the cake ty tessmann just won the 2013 ROAR nitro off-road truggy finals with the d8t!!!!!!
VARCRACER
This truggy will run with the best of them at a fraction of the cost! Very tough and durable. Great shock package as well. This is the best bang for the buck on the market right now! If your looking to get into truggy racing save yourself some money and buy a D8T. You will thank me later... :-)

Badass truggy ran it with lrp28 then got rcm conversion with MMM2200 n its a beast!!! Front drive shaft coupler does wearout but only 10buck problem you will have!!! Ive put this thing through hell on n off the track n it just keeps comin back for more! Smooth n consistant no matter what line you drive it takes it all in stride!

bought this d8t in janurary 2011 got a picco .28 with spektrum radio and savox servo's and pro-line caliper tires and this is what u want to race with hot bodies nail'd it.. I was use to drivin Revo's and i thought that they were good every one should own a d8t or any truggy for that matter i will be buying another d8t soon just to have, buildin it was sweet. no problems. after about 8 to 10 hours of drivin the d8t finally broke a front wheel carrier......and this this truggy has been beat...

This truck does what they say(Easy to drive, smooth, and you will put down consistant laps) however the front center drive pin wears extremly fast. I tried the updated one with the new coupler and it wore out to. I finally purchased the tecno coupler with the retaining ring and put in a xray drive pin from my 808 buggy problem solved. The rear hubs break consistantly had to get aliminum ones. All in all its a good truck and you get what you pay for I did notice no matter what setup i ran it liked one line only on the track hard to drive in heavy traffic. I ended up selling it. If you purchase be prepared to upgrade. I know some people say you have to do that to all kits but thats not true YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

I have three of these for whatever reason they ARE COOL!!! Converted all but one to electric and they are fun and competitive in any config. Best truggy for the money and I can do circles around the rc8t's and the losi's. The only one I have not compared to is the MBX6T. I love Mugen too so it might be time to buy one of those soon : ) Thanks A Main.
