This is an optional Lynx Heli 1.5mm G10 Vertical Tail Fin, and is intended for use with the Align T-Rex 500 and MS Heli Protos 500 Helicopters. Using specialized airflow based software, Lynx Heli has tested and determined that the airflow efficiency of a standard, stock fin could be greatly improved with this design, providing not only a better looking tail fin design, but a design that functions very well within the realm of RC helicopter flight with improved tail rotor efficiency. The bright color looks great, and helps to provide easy orientation during aggressive 3D flight. - Tail fin surface is smaller compared to the vertical fin shapes of other models, providing less air drag, reduced airflow turbulence, and improved tail rotor efficiency & performance.
- Tail fin position is advanced in the frame direction, allowing a larger area of air flow, while reducing vibration resonance effects.
- Field tests & software simulations confirm that the greater airflow efficiency resulted in a net decrease of 5% gyro gain without compromising tail holding authority during aggressive 3D flight.
- With 500 class helicopters, the airflow increases allowed reductions of tail rotor gain all the way to 5% before tail rotor holding ability showed signs of change.
