This is the Traxxas Velineon® VXL-3m forward/reverse brushless electronic speed control. This ESC simplifies brushless technology with easy, built-in profiles and intuitive programming. The VXL-3m™ uses advanced circuit design that allows sensorless brushless motors to operate with the smoothness and precision of the best brushed systems. It sets up, operates, and programs just like the Traxxas XL-5™ family of ESCs so there's no tricky new procedures to learn. Traxxas' exclusive patent-pending Training Mode™ is also included to limit full throttle to 50% for young or inexperienced drivers. For the most advanced users, the VXL-3m is equipped with two-stage low voltage detection to allow LiPo battery use, including powerful 11.1-volt 3S packs!

I have owned my VXL-3M since they first came out and it is still running strong. The optional fan keeps the ESC cool for long hard runs on 2S LIPO. I run it in my 2WD Slash and one in my Axial SCX-10 with a 27 turn brushed motor with little to no heat.

@ Parker Wright... Don't pour cold water on it, the cold shock will crack components in the ESC. This ESC is fine for the job it does. It only has problems when people start putting fat alloy beadlock wheels on it with all the alloy parts they can find, double the weight of the truck, size of the pinion, then wonder why the ESC burns. Use the lightweight wheels and tires, only use alloy parts where absolutely necessary, fit a sensible pinion if you're gonna run 3s, and it'll go until the motor overheats. 'Adequate' ESC for just about any 'normal' use in the merv, and almost any other mini on 2s and 3s, overkill for most.

its ok, ive burned out two, it works good for driving around, i wouldnt recommend serious bashing with dual six packs in series its very hard on the esc and it overheats. its great in parallel and with one battery, over all its very good, its very waterproof but just watch the temps, i would give it short breaks or pour cold water on it every 5-8 mins.
