The A Main Hobbies’ crew have worked tirelessly to complete the Silver Dollar R/C Raceway for the 2013 IFMAR 1/10-scale Buggy World Championships. The track is large, flowing and super-smooth. The lap times and traction should be consistent. The racing this week will be awesome and we expect nothing but exciting racing action from the world’s finest RC racers.
*The layout will have to be changed this Thursday, September 26th for the 4WD class. We’ll post images of the 4WD layout after it’s been put in.
This photo was taken the night the track was completed by our aeriographer, Derrick Threat. We lucky to get aerial photos and videos of all of A Main Hobbies’ events and races.
It’s official, IFMAR has chosen Pro-Line “X2″ Suburbs 2.0 tires to be used in the rear for both the 2WD and 4WD classes at the World Championships held at A Main Hobbies’ Silver Dollar R/C Raceway. IFMAR has also made a decision to use Pro-Line’s “X2″ compound Scrubs as the front tire for the 4WD class.
*The front tire in 2WD is “open” and can be chosen by the driver.
*Tires must be purchased at Silver Dollar R/C Raceway during the IFMAR World Championships.

The world’s top pros spent four days at A Main Hobbies’ Silver Dollar R/C Raceway for the Pre-Worlds in preparation for this year’s coveted World Championships. It was decided on day one to treat the track’s surface with sugar, which created quite a stir. In the end, the traction was plentiful, dependable and everyone knew it was the right decision. With the track being prepped with sugar, the precedent has now been set for it to be run that way for both the ROAR Nationals and IFMAR 1/10-scale World Championships; both races are being held at Silver Dollar R/C Raceway later this year. The top pros were much happier with an unwavering surface that produced the same lap times round-to-round.
A number of the usual suspects were fast, including Team Associted’s Ryan Cavalieri who looked fantastic with his CML-converted B4.2 and Associated B44.2. Cavalieri was the top qualifier in Mod 2WD and second for the mains in 4WD. Yokomo’s Naoto Matsukura threw down some of the fastest single lap times of the weekend, but couldn’t find the consistency needed in the qualifiers and main events. Kyosho’s Jared Tebo, Durango’s Jorn Neumann and Associated’s Neil Cragg made the top 10 in both classes alongside Cavalieri and Matsukura, showing their speed in both disciplines. Although many consider the Pre-Worlds a “practice” for the real race later this year, Ty Tessmann had everything sorted out and practiced his victory pose, twice. The young, Canadian wrapped up both classes, needing only A1s and A2s to seal the victories.
A Main Hobbies’ Derrick Threatt captured some sick footage from the Pre-Worlds that should have everyone excited about this year’s World Championships.

Chico, Ca, October 22, 2012 – The competition was fierce as several manufacturers made their way to the new Silver Dollar RC Raceway for this year’s World’s Warm-Up race.Top drivers from Team Associated, Kyosho, Hot Bodies and A Main Hobbies seized the opportunity to get familiar with Silver Dollar’s racing surface, enormous drivers stand, stadium lighting and premier facilities. For many, this was their first chance to compete on the newly constructed Silver Dollar track. “It was absolutely amazing,” said Team Associated’s Ryan Maifield. “The track has tons of grip and the driver’s stand is the nicest I’ve ever driven from,” said Kyosho’s Cody King. “We wanted to give the pro racers a facility they look forward to visiting, and local enthusiasts a track they’d be proud of. I believe we accomplished our goals,” says A Main Hobbies owner, Kendall Bennett.
Blair & Tebo Earn Wins In Truggy and Buggy
After battling back and forth with seasoned Hot Bodies’ racer and fellow A Main Hobbies’ teammate Tyler Vik, young up and comer, Austin Blair, was able to squeak out the victory in Open Truggy by just a few seconds. “It felt good to get the win, I’m glad I held off Vik who was charging hard at the end of the race, “ said Blair.
Team Associated’s Ryan Maifield dominated the first half of the Pro Buggy race. Maifield would stretch out his lead to over a 10-seconds, but unfortunately for him his tires would not hold up. His car’s traction and lap times began to suffer as the tires became unglued. Kyosho’s Jared Tebo took advantage of Maifield’s misfortunes and was able to overtake Maifield late in the race. “I had a rough start and went to the back of the pack early in the race. Thankfully, I stayed focused and was able to work my way through the field,” said Tebo.
