The standard VCS shock uses a plastic snap-in ring that is prone to pulling out of position on a big crash. When this happens, the shock looses it's fluid and basically falls apart. CRC addresses this issue with the "VCS Dura-Shock". The Dura-Shock has a threaded Delrin insert to contain the shock internals. Speaking of internals, other optional shocks on the market use special shock internals. However, the CRC VCS Dura-Shock uses STOCK internal components from the standard VCS shock. These are easily found on any dealer's shelf and are very affordable. And with regard to price, the CRC unit comes complete, with the #13459 threaded collar, durashaft, o-rings, ballcups and aluminum shock bottom/spring perch.
The Durashaft is treated to be super slipery and and smooth. Also, only the durashaft features the 'no-stick' stepped design and rounded piston. This again makes for the smoothest VCS style shock on the market.
