Do yourselves a favor and invest in a high quality, powerful, and SAFE charger when you first get into the electric RC hobby. I started with an affordable $80, standalone 6-amp multi-chemistry charger. Add another $20 to that for an adapter so I could charge 2 LiPo packs at once. This charger was fine for my small 2,500 mAh 2S LiPo packs for my 1:16 Traxxas E-Revo, but it still took longer than I wanted to fully charge from the Low Voltage Cutoff point. I got into the 1:10 Short Course trucks an[More…]

After 3 years with cheap low powered chargers, I decided to pull the trigger and pick up a PL6. I have charged receiver packs, NiCd drill batteries, LiPo R/C batteries, NiMH AA's, NiMH R/C batteries, and my car battery. I never had to change settings within the presets and it charged everything correctly. When I installed the software on my computer, I was blown away. I bought a Power Lab 8 with parallel board and in 30 days it did not work. I contacted FMA USA and they wanted $125 + shipping to fix it. It did not seem right that it would cost 70% the price of the new charger to fix it. The FMA USA representative was extremely hostile. I have never experienced that type of customer service or product support. Personally my advice would be check out the iCharger 308 Duo or the Hitec X2-400. I have never had to use iChargers customer support but Hitecs support[More…]

This is THE charger I should have bought first. I've got two cheap ($60.00) chargers that burned up pretty fast. I could have saved a lot of time, money, and headaches.
You'll need a BIG power supply to use the full capability of this charger, but once you get it set up properly, you'll be glad to have it. I sure am. It charges my 3400mah 6s packs in just about 35 minutes. At 1C!

I bought this as my first LiPO charger and I've been very impressed. The ability to run everything using the free Charge Control Software is what sold me on this. So far, I've only been charging 2S batteries, but as my stock of electric vehicles grows, this is going to be something that will easily grow with my needs and not require another upgrade for quite some time. The only thing I need now is the Revolectrix MPA parallel charge board to really start to exploit the power. Unfortunately, [More…]
