When I was in the market for an electric motor I was very hesitant to purchase something new on the shelf. I talked to people at the track about what they thought were good motors, but the only responses I could gather were those of brand loyalists. I'm not sure if Viper has been around anywhere else in the RC community, but I thought I'd go out on a limb and try one of the 9.5T motors. For one thing the manufacturer warranty is great, the packaging was tidy and clean, no bent up wires or anythi[More…]

Had the opportunity to race some Indoor Off-Road this weekend with my new Viper VST 17.5, and I must say I'm impressed! I ran the "Open" Stadium Truck class running the 17.5 (with a Tekin RS esc) against the Mod motors and I was less than a second of the "TQ", who was running a 8.5mod. Allot of torque and I was able to gear higher than I had with previous 17.5 motors.

I run this in my SC10. At the moment I have it paired with an old Mamab Max Pro I had laying around and this motor handles the highest timing setting the mmp has and does not go over 120F. Im actually on here to buy another Viper motor for modified racing, Im going to go with the 7.5t but so far this 17.5 has been awsome!!

I haven't had a chance to put a lot of time on my 10.5 but with a 23 tooth pinion in my 44.1 the motor is fast. I didn't have my temp gun so I don't know how much it heats up or even if I'm in the right area in gearing... The stock timing is advanced already so make sure you are aware of that... The 44.1 is pulling the front end off the ground without issue... so will have to play with gearing...
