This is the Kyosho Inferno MP9 TKI3 "Spec A" Competition 1/8 Scale Nitro Off-Road Buggy. The TKI3 is now available factory assembled with a race ready setup and pre-trimmed body. The kit is assembled in the Kyosho Japan Headquarters built by experienced staff and given the final look over by the MP9's godfather designer Yuichi Kanai. Once you paint the body and install your gear, the MP9 TKI3 "Spec A" buggy is ready for the track. All other specifications between the "Spec A" and the standard TKI3 stay the same.

The time has arrived to experience the Inferno’s legendary racing performance. With a total of 8 Off-Road World Championship Victories, including A Main Hobbies-sponsored team driver Cody King's triumph in 2010, the Kyosho Inferno series has established an unrivaled record of success. Tested at numerous international racing events, and proven with Jared Tebo's dominating performance at Neo 2012, design upgrades in multiple areas have elevated the MP9 chassis to another level.

The TKI3 chassis design focus is on efficient traction and is realized through short suspension arms and unique rear hubs that produce effective traction with a light suspension stroke. The shock design has changed from spacer setting adjustment to dial adjustment and includes the previously optional tapered hole shock pistons that produce optimal piston speed and damping power during long runs. Other features include a low-height body design with less front-end resistance that generates improved aerodynamics for a competitive edge, as well as stable posture through the air. With the power of the worlds most advanced racing platform firmly in your grasp, the innovative design of the TKI3 puts racing glory within your reach.

"Spec A" Features:

  • Factory Assembled: Built in the Kyosho Japan Headquarters by experienced staff, the Spec A buggy comes factory assembled with the final look and approval by Yuichi Kanai.
  • Race Ready: The Spec A buggy is built with a race ready setup having all adjustments set and the buggy up to winning standards.
  • Pre-Cut Clear Body: No more wasting time cutting out the body; just add your paint and race.

TKI3 Features:

  • HD Universals: 3.5mm thick swing shafts, much stronger than the previous version.
  • Heavy Duty Shock Tower: Strengthened front shock tower features thicker construction giving you the ability to handle what ever your local track can dish out. Similar to what was used during the IFMAR 2011 Worlds.
  • Redesigned Battery & Receiver Box: Redesigned molded battery and receiver box, which is compatible with the KO Propo switch.
  • Redesigned Servo Tray: Servo tray allows for precise, effective and linear linkage movement.
  • Move Up: The radio tray has also undergone change which now allows for easy servo maintenance and replacement.
Standard Features:
  • Threaded Big Bore Shocks: Dial adjustable big bore shocks allow precision adjustment of front-rear and left-right suspension. (Front: Small / Rear: Medium)
  • MP9 Wheel: Lightweight dish wheels provide optimal rigidity, traction and effective tire grip.

  • Upright Servo: Servo is mounted upright for easy maintenance and is dropped 2mm to contribute to the lower center of gravity. The hard chrome finish to the metal parts is more resistant to damage and dirt than anodizing.
  • Extremely Light Weight: The smaller differential units on front and rear with grooved cup joints, aluminum balls and the flexing shape of resin parts effectively lightens the weight while giving the chassis rigidity, more durability and strength.
  • Fuel Tank: Features finger hook for fast and reliable refueling and realizes stable fuel supply in even under severe posture changes.
  • Wraparound Side Guards: Grooved face in side guard matches the thickness of velcro tape and prevents dirt getting inside the chassis. Complete wraparound side guards only found on Kyosho MP9.
  • Equipped With Mud Guards: Mud guards on the rear arm prevent dirt entering the drive shaft and getting inside the wheels.
  • Kyosho Has You Covered: 3 types of servo horn included for various R/C systems (SANWA / KO / for JR, FUTABA and Hitec)
  • Hex Screws: Kit includes all hex screws enough said!
  • Weight Balance: Engine position moved 15mm forwards and 5mm to the center compared to the MP777. Also the height has been lowered by 1mm for ideal weight balance.

Kyosho Inferno MP9 TKI3 "Spec A" Pre-Built Competition 1/8 Off Road Buggy Kit
Since I wondered about this before buying it, I thought I would give some feedback on it so others could make an informed decision before buying one, as well. Since this feedback is not about whether the car itself is any good on the track, or durable, or whatever, and is more about whether the Spec A version is worth buying, I'll stick with feedback concerning what came in the box, and the quality of the pre-built version of the TKI3. Likes: -Not having to build it. Not that I don't like building kits, I just don't have the time right now, so this saved me a fair amount of time. -The assembly was pretty good, with most things being thread locked with blue when needed. The suspension arms and such needed some clean up work to make them as smooth as they should be, but not bad. I found a few screws that worked their way loose, and would recommend just taking the time to redo them before hitting the track. -The setup they put in it isn't horrible, and didn't need too much tweaking to get it close to where it needed to be. -No missing parts Dislikes: -My biggest disappointment is THE BODY! They fail to mention to you that the body that comes with the Spec A IS NOT the same body that comes with the kit version. I was hugely disappointed with this. The body that is provided is a total POC and does not even fit well using the provided stock air filter. On top of the poor design, the lexan is about as thick as a paper towel, which detracts even further from the value of the body. For the price paid for this buggy, this was a HUGE minus for me. They also list it as being fully cut out, but it was not. The hole for the engine was marked, but not cut out. I can see leaving it that way though, as the hole size can be preference. -The price. Obviously, I knew that when I bought it, but would like to see it more competitively priced with the other major manufacturers. -Having to buy 1mm raised engine mounts to keep the clutch bell from hitting the chassis during flex, and ruining bearings at an alarming rate. For the price of the kit, I was disappointed to have to spend an additional 50 bucks before hitting the track to fix what I would call a design issue. -Having to bend a pipe hangar to fit. Been in the hobby for over ten years, and this is my first k-car, so maybe this is standard Kyosho protocol? Overall: Would I recommend one? If you want a k-car, and you are busy and don't have the time to build a kit, or just don't like building them, then yes I would. If you can get past the things I mentioned, then for the extra 35 bucks, it was worth the money to me to have it assembled and mostly ready. I just really didn't like them not mentioning that the body is different....and basically, junk. Felt slighted a little. Hope this helps... See ya at the track!

Kyosho Inferno MP9 TKI3 "Spec A" Pre-Built Competition 1/8 Off Road Buggy Kit
Thrilled with the car. Received the car on a Thursday afternoon and converted it to electric because there were no e kits available. The factory build is worth every penny, short of a few bits of mold flashing that I would have removed I was pleased, my shocks were perfect, suspension free, differentials smooth as butter. I took it straight to the track Saturday morning, during my 5th battery I had a steering link come loose, luckily between qualifiers, I went through all the fasteners on the car and found only the other steering link needing to be tightened. Car is competitive with the factory setup.

Kyosho Inferno MP9 TKI3 "Spec A" Pre-Built Competition 1/8 Off Road Buggy Kit
This is a cool buggy if you are a Kyosho/Kanai fan. I really like that the box is autographed. Is it expensive, sure. But to have it come assembled for only $30 more than the kit. I'll take it. Will I end up tearing it all apart at some point, you bet, but it saves some time initially. The best part about the Inferno series is that it hasn't changed all that much over the years. If you compare it to an MP5, it really hasn't changed much. Sure it has its problems. The spaghetti mess of fuel lines, the external filter, the lack of any truly tidy way to run the lines, the lack of a clunk, all of that is annoying, but the fit and finish on most of it is better than anything else, except maybe a Tamiya. As for the other review, my body was exactly like another mp9 tki3 body I have.
