XRAY XB9E Luxury 1/8 Electric Off-Road Buggy Kit
Picked mine up locally. The fact that a body is not included is inexcusible. The 808e body is NOT a direct fit (at least, not as good a fit as a body on an Xray car 'should' be, it is wider than necessary). The Finnisher body is a direct fit but could easily be the ugliest body in the world at the moment. I opted for an XB9 low downforce body which just needed a small cut out on the front side to accomodate the height of the batteries. But the cheapskating does not end there. You will need a set of shims to shim the diffs (download the manual and see the optional shims mentioned in the first steps of the diff building. These are not really options, they are needed, as if you use the kit supplied shims, you will need to completely disassemble the diffs next time you adjust shimming as the gears wear). The sticker sheet included is just the word Xray over and over in different fonts and different sizes, not even the 'XB9' on it, let alone XB9e. The wing has no stickers supplied at all, much as I would like to achieve the look of the wing on the box, it is not possible to my knowledge. The battery tray is an amateur effort at best, there are not even notches for ESC zip ties, and no cable routing whatsoever. There are screws missing/incorrect, due to the fact that it is basically an XB9 with an official e-conversion included and while the parts bags have been updated for the 'e' version, the accompanying screw bags have not. The manual and chassis are unchanged from the nitro version, flywheel hole is not blocked, you will be looking at one of your velcros through the underside of this hole and there is still space for stuff to come into the chassis from underneath. The radio box is closed with screws, which is not a problem, just inconvenient, Xray, learn to use clips on stuff we need quick access to, please? The plastic front top plate was surprising, but hardly a deal-breaker. The front hex hubs are the plus 2mm offset with no mention in the manual or the 'supplementary' sheets as to why this is (the rear are still the normal 0 offset), so while I assume this is as it should be in my model, I have no way of knowing for certain. The shock towes are the original XB9 items for some reason, despite the fact the XB9 '13 updates are available and a direct fit (trying to get rid of some old stock, Xray?). The oils for diffs and shocks are not appropriate for the electric car (again, simply unchanged from the nitro version). On the plus side, the shocks are nothing less than awesome, and the motor mount is one of the best available too. Once finished the car is absolutely fantastic, however, it should not have been such a pain in the butt to build and finish. These may seem like small complaints, but there are a lot of them, and when you consider that all Xray had to do was a half assed conversion job and some supplementary manual sheets to call it a 'new car', the word 'luxury' starts to leave a bad taste in the mouth. There is nothing 'luxury' about the supporting package here. Xray needs to step their game up for electrics, or at least, just tell us they flat out don't care about those who want to run electric. XRAY XB9E Luxury 1/8 Electric Off-Road Buggy Kit
Don't waste your money on the XB9e. The nitro version is top notch, but the electric version is nothing more than armature. The battery tray is a joke and you will need to purchase ($$$) extra strap to properly secure the battery. It doesn't come with wheels or a body either ($$$$). I purchased ($$$$) the only body XRAY makes for the XB9e and it doesn't fit properly, at least with 4s lipos. I talked to XRAY about this issue and of course none of their "Team Drivers" have that issue. Apparently it is an issue after talking to the local guys who have mentioned they had to cut holes in their bodies to get it to fit down over the battery. I purchased ($$$$) a different body that A Main Hobbies recommended (Jconcepts Finisher) which is for a nitro BTW, and it didn't fit down over the battery either. The result of that is, I had to shim up the front so high that it exposes half the of the side guards. A fix for that would be to add Velcro ($$$) and forcibly push the sides of the body down and to secure it to the side guards. I received that tip off the web from OTHERS that have the same issue. There are no proper channels to run esc leads to the receiver. Anyhow part of this is my fault for not doing my homework before purchasing the XB9, the rest is on XRAY for not taking the time to make sure everything works. Do some research, you'll find others have the same similar problems. A Main Hobbies tried to comfort me and said I would love the buggy, who btw doesn't have and real knowledge about the xb9 and they admitted that. But I don't love it!!!. It's been a case of having to rig one thing after the other just to make XRAY's XB9e to work. So the unfortunate thing is, I had to put the XB9e together before I was able to truly find out about the body issue and that voided any chance of returning it. I'm also out 60 dollars on two bodies that don't fit properly. The money I had to spend to buy proper battery straps. Replacement parts are nearly twice as much as they are for other 1/8th buggies. You wont find a crap ton of aftermarket parts for the XB9e, so you'll spend another fortune if you want to upgrade anything on the buggy. The only thing "Luxury" about the XB9e is if you have the luxury of being rich. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra 30 to 40 dollars and purchase a Losi 8ight. I own two and the quality is equal. They handle just as good if not better than the XB9, and parts, factory and aftermarket, are very reasonable. But don't waste your money on the XB9e.

XRAY XB9E Luxury 1/8 Electric Off-Road Buggy Kit
I have mixed feelings on the XB9e. It's seems like a very lethargic e-conversion. The battery tray is joke. Worst I have ever seen. It's too long and too big. No guides for wires underneath it. No indentations if you decide to run 2 2S lipos. For this trash, Xray will happily charge you more than $30 if you are ever unfortunate enough to need a replacement. In fact, there is complete lack of attention paid to wire routing. There's nothing on this buggy that helps you in that regard. The next negative is the body. You don't get one. Xray expects you to shell out another $40 for their "dedicated" XB9e body. The body itself is a disgrace. Worst fitting e-body I have ever come across, period. Unless you have an ultra small ESC and moderate size lipo, it wont fit. The next point of contention is the radio box. You can't work with it unless you take it out completely. Bizarre to say the least. The manual is from the nitro buggy. You get some addendum for the electronic parts. Not impressed. The out drives seem to wear fairly quickly as well. The Mugen ECO is far superior with its layout and components. Not even close. That being said, the XB9e does handle very good. I found it remarkably stable and easy to drive. Not what I was expecting. The shocks are good and the springs are top notch. Durability seems pretty darn good as well. I ran it at a large loamy outdoor track. So, if you can get past the annoyances, it can be a rewarding buggy to drive.

XRAY XB9E Luxury 1/8 Electric Off-Road Buggy Kit
Be warned these do not come with a body. (yet, that may change) The XRay 808e body is a direct fit, so is the JConcepts XB9 Finisher body.

XRAY XB9E Luxury 1/8 Electric Off-Road Buggy Kit
This is an excellent top quality kit, that a body has to be bought separately is no big deal.
