This weekend my son and I traveled to Lugoff, SC to the RC Pit Supercross track for the Black Friday race. We left the house around 3:00AM and arrived at the track around 7:45am. Practice started at 8:00AM and the first qualifier kicked off at 10:30 AM. There were about 75 entries for this race.
John Michael TQ’d both rounds of Pro Buggy qualifying and he was the only person to turn 9 laps. He led the race for the first few minutes and fell back to 6th after a mistake. He worked his way back up to the lead a few laps later. About 20 minutes later he fell back to 3rd and a couple laps later he moved back into the lead again. About 30 minutes into the race he had about a 30 second lead and when he came in for his 3rd pit stop the engine flamed out after taking fuel. I got him started back up and the engine shut off again. I started it up and he took off. He lost about 20-seconds in the pits. He kept the lead all the way till the next to last lap when he got passed. He took the lead back in the last lap but played it safe and doubled when 2nd place tripled and passed him. They came through the whoop section together and bounced off each other and John dropped down to 2nd place as they came across the finish line less than .300 second apart after 45-minutes. He ran JConcepts Green Hybrids in the 45-minute main.
John Michael also TQ’d Pro Truggy. He led the first 29 laps of the race when he fell back to 2nd after a few mistakes. John stayed in 2nd for rest of the race. I had to adjust the tune on the engine after the 2nd pit stop, which resulted in a long 18-second pit stop. John was never able to make the time back up and ended up finishing 2nd. I have made a couple changes to his truggy and he is just not happy with it so we are going back to his original setup for this weekend’s race. John ran JConcepts Green Hybrids on the truggy for the 45-minute main.
I TQ’d both rounds of Ebuggy qualifying. However, during the A main I unfortunately pulled out a captured rear hinge pin on a triple jump which took me out of the race on the 3rd lap.
John Michael did an awesome job this weekend and I was super proud of him. His speed has really picked up and now he needs to work on the consistency a little bit.
This weekend we are going to Myrtle Beach for the annual Fall Brawl race.
Thank you very much for the support!!!
